Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up alongside 12 other kids. Her imaginative mind helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Songs were written by her before she knew how to write and read. After getting her first guitar at the age of 8, she began performing at radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. In high school she established herself in the local community, however her dream was greater. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to join his syndicated show from the beginning. Parton accepted the job and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and joined with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the No. number 1 position after the duo separated. The first time a song hit the top spot.
