In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, well-known artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna and Maluma collaborated on Medellin, 2019 In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about its direction towards the mainstream. In contrast, a young generation Rauw Alejandro wanted to keep the trend going. In his music, he often used elements from electronic dance music, and various other styles.
