Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children in a Eufala farm. Two soccer. He is among three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the top lineman in America. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. He settled down in Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. In 1988, as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. In his time at college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
